Palm
Wax Candles
A Glowing Candle is very proud to offer Palm Wax Candles as a sustainable,
non-genetically modified alternative to other waxes. Its exceptional
sustainability combined with clean burn, great scent throw (hot and cold),
and crystallizing beauty will give you many hours of enjoyment.
Palm wax is an all-natural, renewable resource that is obtained from the oil
palm in Southeast Asia. Because preserving wildlife and natural habitat is
important to me, the palm wax used to make your candle does not come from
any source that contributes to the destruction of tropical rainforest and
wildlife habitats. It comes from an environmentally conscious member of the
R.S.P.O. that leads the way in protecting the deforestation of rainforest.
Palm Wax has environmentally friendly attributes. It offers a whole new
choice for candles made with sustainable and renewable resource. It is grown
on trees and picked rather that sown in a field and harvested. The palm
kernel has one of the highest oil contents of any plant, so a lot of wax can
be grown in a small amount of space. It has been grown as a commercial crop
in well managed and regulated estates since the early 1900’s. The oil palm
produces fruit in bunches which are harvested, and sent to palm oil mills
where the oils are extracted, sterilized, clarified and purified into crude
palm oil. The crude oil is then sent to palm oil refineries where it is
processed further into products such as cooking oil, shortening, cocoa
butter substitutes, non-dairy creamers, soaps, and palm wax.
The main ingredient in palm wax is palm oil, which is obtained from palm oil
trees. The oil palm tree is a natural renewable resource. It has a higher
yield and is more resilient than any other oilseed crop. No artificial
fertilizers or chemical treatments are required for its cultivation.
Palm wax, unlike any other waxes, forms crystals on the candle as it cools.
The bright flame in combination with the unique crystallization patterns of
palm wax candles produce a beautiful illumination effect that is unique to
each candle and has been compared to being a work of art. The beautiful
crystallized appearance is a natural occurrence with palm wax and not from
any additives.
Palm wax candles are virtually drip less and soot-free. Palm candle wax is
biodegradable and water-soluble. Spills can easily be cleaned with soap and
water. Palm wax candles are very hard, smooth and dry. At the same time, it
also has a soft feel. Palm wax can withstand summer heat without bending or
melting and does not have an oily feel.
Palm wax holds twice as much fragrance as paraffin, gel, or soy wax. The palm wax
releases the scent throughout the entire candle, so the scent does not fade
away. It's subtle fragrance can be detected in a room even though it isn't
burning.
BURNING INSTRUCTIONS
Always place your candle on a heat resistant holder. When the candle burns
down to the bottom of the container there could be enough heat to damage the
furniture on which the candle is sitting. Keep the flame from getting too
close to the container. The heat from the flame could cause the container to
crack. Handle burning container candles with care. The melted wax and flame
will cause the container to be too hot to handle. To be additionally safe,
when the wax level is from 1/4 to 1/2 from the bottom of container, you
should discontinue use and avoid the possibility of the container cracking.
As a safety precaution, the wick used in your candle has a metal tab at its
base. This causes the flame to be extinguished before it reaches the very
bottom of the container.
Never leave candles burning unattended. A good burn time is between 2 - 4
hours.
Place candles in a draft-free area.
Keep burning candles away from children and pets.
Never leave wick trimmings, matches, or any other material in the wax pool
as these can create a fire hazard.
Dispose of all packing materials or foreign matter before lighting a candle.
Be careful to make sure that candle rings or other decoration items do not
come in contact with the flame of the candle.
Keep your burning candles away from any flammable objects.
The wick is designed to trim itself. However, if the flame dances up and
down and you see dark soot coming from the flame the wick is too long.
Extinguish the flame and trim the wick after it has cooled. For best
results, trim the wick to 1/4 inch before lighting the candle each time.
If the wick is trimmed too short, the resulting flame will give unsatisfactory
burning. To correct this, extinguish the flame and carefully pour off a very
small amount of the
liquid wax. Be extremely careful doing this. The wax and container
will be hot!!! Relight the candle and allow it to burn for about one hour. If
the flame is still too small repeat the process until the flame is able to
continue to burn the wax it has melted with a normal flame size.
Direct sunlight and strong ultraviolet light will fade the color of your
candle. Avoid areas where the candle can come in contact with direct
sunlight or prolonged exposure to strong lighting.
