   GEL  CANDLES

At A Glowing Candle, the gel candles are all hand poured and only safe, top of the line, quality materials are used.  The focus is to make quality candles and the safety guidelines are strictly followed to assure a safe burn.  Only PENRICO Gel is used  for 100% safety and is the only patented mineral oil base product. The wick is non-toxic, non-smoking, and lead free.

The flame burns hot, but the container remains warm to the touch because as the candle burns, it leaves an insulating film on the sides of the container.

As the candle burns, the translucent gel is illuminated throughout, throws a nice scent, and the glass container creates a nice glowing pattern on the surface where the candle sits.  Pictures really don't do them any real justice.  Every batch I make is tested and burned to assure quality and safety before the candles are made available to you.

Gel Candle containers and embeds can be used for any purpose you may have after the candle has burned.  The gel peels right out as if it were thin rubber.  Wash the container with soap and warm water - it is as good as new.  Gel Candles are not messy.  If you happen to get drips on something, just let it cool and then peel it right off.

The Forever Gel Candles will last a long time.  The only part that burns away and needs refilled is the votive insert in the candle.  The theme and embeds within the candle itself will not burn.  When the votive is lit, the whole candle is illuminated and gives off a nice light and wonderful fragrance.  Refills are available.   With time, the forever part of your candle will collect dust.  This part of the candle can be wiped gently with a non-alcohol wipe to remove any dust that collects.

Most times only the refill itself is needed unless you need to replace the glass votive container that came with your candle.  The refills are very simple to insert.  First, peel away the remaining gel and remove the wick stub left in the used votive container.  Unwrap the new gel refill and gently push it down into the votive container.  It is ready to burn and the candle is fresh and new again. Its beauty you can enjoy for a long time to come.  I have only tested and burned my Forever Glowing Candles using the gel votives.  I do not recommend using candles you purchase elsewhere for refilling the votive.  If you choose to do this, you are doing it at your own risk.  A Glowing Candle will not be responsible for the results that could occur.

If you have a special occasion or theme and you want gel candles to enhance your event, contact me using the contact form.  Some examples of events I have done:  graduation, memorial service, Harley Davidson motorcycle, and photo candles.  The possibilities are virtually endless when creating with gel wax.  Share your ideas with me!!!

Gel Candles sometimes have the resemblance of food so make sure no one assumes the wrong thing.   THE GEL SHOULD NOT BE INGESTED!!!!!!

Gel candles are becoming a new innovation in the craft world. It is neither completely solid nor completely liquid. Gel is essentially a combination of polymer resin and mineral oil that is cut with exceptional safety in respect of the flash point. When combined in a container with a wick it can produce exquisite transparent candles. Because of the clarity of gel, it gives off about 40% more luminescence than regular paraffin wax. A Gel candle is an ultra-transparent and long-burning alternative to wax. It takes to bright colors with the retro-enthusiasm of Jell-O, and its transparency provides the perfect medium with which to create unique candles.

Gel Candles are beautiful to look at, lovely to smell, easy to maintain, clean burn, and long-burning. Gel will burn at least twice as long as paraffin wax.
Many people prefer candles made from gel because they burn so long, at least 10 hours per ounce of gel. Of course, you wouldn't burn a candle straight through its burn life. If a gel candle is allowed to burn for too long, it can get very hot. You should burn your candle for only about 2 or 3 hours at any one time. Then trim the wick before you light it again.

Gel candle flames also burn hotter than paraffin candles.  I have found in testing the candles I make, the container itself stays relatively warm. As the candle burns down, a thin layer of gel is left on the sides of the container.  This keeps the glass from getting extremely hot.  Although they burn longer and hotter, gel candles have smaller flames, which means it's easy to forget you've got a gel candle burning--not a good idea!

The top of a gel candle is sticky, meaning it can attract bugs and dust. Between burnings, cover your candle with a lid of glass, cellophane, or clear plastic wrap.  T

Trimming the wick of your gel is not an option. You have to do it. A tall, exposed wick is a potential safety hazard because its large flame can generate enough heat to ignite the gel. Trim the wick to 1/4 inch (6 mm) the first time you burn the candle. Then, every time you light the candle, make sure the wick is no taller than 1/4 inch (6 mm). Keep it short; keep it safe.
To trim the wick, wait until the gel has cooled completely. Then turn the candle upside down, so no blackened bits of the wick will fall into the gel, and trim the wick with a pair of small scissors or nail clippers. For me, nail clippers work best because the trimmed away wick will stay in the clippers until released.  Don't try to trim the wick while it's burning; the result will be a big mess.

HOW TO BURN YOUR GEL CANDLE SAFELY

Don't leave a burning candle unattended.

Don't burn gel candles for longer than 2 or 3 hours at any one time.

Don't burn the candle all the way down to bottom of the container.

Leave at least 1/2 inch of gel in the bottom.

Keep the wicks short! The longer the wick, the higher and hotter the flame--and the more likely the gel will ignite.

Before you burn a candle for the first time, trim the wick to 1/4 inch (6 mm) high.

Every time you light a candle after the first time, trim the wick to 1/4 inch (6 mm). That's right--really short!

Place candles on flat, nonporous, heat-resistant surfaces.

Keep candles out of the reach of children and pets. If you suspect a child has eaten a gel candle, call your poison Control Center immediately.
